BREAKESTRA

The Los Angeles based ensemble is based in deep funk, soul, jazz fever and musical friendships. A Breakestra show is about dancing and swinging — eight men on stage getting loose, playing serious grooves. Think James Brown. Watching the Breakestra live is a tour de force. As Miles says, “What are the first three letters of FUNK?”

DJ RAS MG OF SUBLIME DJ SETS

Two classic Technics 1200 turntables spin in unison, an outstretched arm reaches for the fader. Behind the large shadowy silhouette of a tightly braided afro, looms the twisted irony of the colorful, enigmatic, and now iconic “sun” from sublime’s 40 oz To Freedom encapsulated within the frame of an RIAA certified multi-platinum record award. The strategic touch of a colossal hand scratches the grooves of vintage 180 gram vinyl over a jazzy rendition Gershwin’s standard “Summertime”, carefully selected from the classic LP- Herbie Mann’s 1961 -Live at the Village Vanguard.

WILLIE WALDMAN & UNCANNY ALLSTARS

Friday night, Willie will complete the “who’s who” of musical acts to create the Uncanny Allstars for a seriously fun jam session!

Willie Waldman is one you’ll find in the liner notes of great artists and groups such as Banyan, Rob Wasserman, Perry Farrell and the late Tupac Shakur. While the list goes on, there’s much more to this trumpet players credit than simply recording as a sideman on many of today’s contemporary artists albums.

SMOOTH MONEY GESTURE

This quintet’s sound is rooted in rock and roll with elements of funk, bluegrass, metal and electronica. Smooth Money Gesture’s music has taken these influences and twisted them around with the individual band member’s influences and musical presences, and evolved their own sound into a high energy psychedelic creation of their own which grabs the crowd and won’t let go!

All uniquely talented, Stonefed’s four members weave a groove that fuses itself to sound like one super being. Their roots in blues, funk, and rock are a strong backbone during jams that lead the band into elements of jazz, reggae, soul and hip-hop. A decade of shows encompassing many tours, live television and radio broadcasts, multiple festivals and professional party band events, give Stonefed the experience to entice virtually any crowd.

SILENT DISCO powered by Silent Frisco

Silent Disco” was developed at Glastonbury Festival in the UK and pushed in Germany, Australia and Holland. Silent Disco made its first US appearance in 2005, where Silent Frisco founder Robbie “Motion Potion” Kowal was the resident DJ and was the first American DJ to perform on Silent Disco. Since then, Kowal, and Silent Frisco have been pushing this unique concept throughout the US where up to 1,000 attendees listen via headphones to each DJ set. It’s a unique environment where it’s “silent” except the laughter and shouting over the music in the headphones.

MoPo (aka Robbie Kowal) is one of America’s most versatile, experienced and flat-out joyous party rockers. These abilities have seen him preceding, following or tagging with a who’s who of breakbeat heros like Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Icey, Cut Chemist, Grandmaster Flash, James Lavelle, Bassnectar, DJ Vadim, Tipper, Z-Trip and more…He brings his skills and party style to Utah’s 1st ever Silent Disco.

U9lift

(formerly known as Ben maybe) is the resurrection of musical exploration, music that defies genre yet defines emotion. U9lift the underground, is a six foot down sound.

U9lift has released more than 3 dozen original compositions, remixes, and live sets, and is the broker/dealer of “Fully Automated Recordings” (http://soundcloud.com/u9lift). His live style has been described as “Massive Attack met Shaggy down by the crossroads for a deal with the devil”. (WhatDaFunk Newsletter). He crafts each set individually and every show is completely unique often incorporating live harmonica, analog delays and percussion. Alicia’s music is driven by a comfort with her sexuality and life experiences. She auditioned for American Idol in 2008 and was one of 200 finalist from Salt Lake City.

TheBand known, as “Warbird” is not easily cornered. Diabolical yet luxurious, muchlike a barbwire-warped fist under soft and sexy velvet.
